Do we need religion to have ethics? Is it possible that a world without religion can be, on the whole, a better place to live?

  • Just an idea – maybe we can try a role-playing exercise. Once Zach takes a stance on the bankruptcy, he can present it and defend it before the two parties.
Scene: Zach is cornered by both afflicted parties in public on an afternoon.
Role 1 – Debtor. A relative of Zach’s girlfriend who is planning to file for bankruptcy.
Role 2 – Contractor. A relative of Zach’s close friend who has not been paid by Debtor. He’s got a big bill to pay for materials and was counting on Debtor’s money.
Zach – would you be up for that? You tell them which side is right; they each try to convince you to support their side. I'll try to structure it so it's more like a debate than a drama, but they'll have some poetic license.
